SteelSeries Ikari Laser

Introduction

SteelSeries is a familiar name for the gamers with its gaming products like headphones and mouse mats. SteelSeries Ikari mice, specially built for professional gamers, are of high quality and do not have any unwanted features. It features programmable macro buttons with cool shape and material as required by the professional gamers. It doesn’t require any driver. It can be readily used through the plug-and-play feature.


SteelSeries Ikari Laser mouse have a button on top to change the CPI or DPI settings. It features 40,000 samples per second (SPS) for unbeatable tracking and precision tracking up to 3200cpi is possible. Current CPI mode of the mouse is shown with the help of two small white LEDs placed on the top-left portion of the mouse. It also features a small LCD screen below to show the current profile in use. Horizontal movement can be smoothened using the special feature Freemove settings.

While testing the first thing we noted was its perfect balance due to its superb ergonomics. It was simply great with all the games we tested. CPI mode changing functionality was really useful while playing games like Crysis, Quake 4, etc. and doing Photoshop works. With all these features you can’t expect it to be cheap. It costs around $60 and targets real high-end gamers.

Good:

The compact infrared laser of the Ikari tracked well on most of the surfaces.

Driverless. Plug-and-play feature.

Superb look and built with great quality.

Freemove option.

Good lift distance.

Bad:

Expensive.

Large size. May not be comfortable for people with small hands.

Bottom line:

SteelSeries Ikari Laser mouse is a well tracking laser mouse with extravagant features. It is a bit expensive but best of the lot without any comparison. It targets professional gamers and the price tag around $60 must be affordable for such high-end gamers.
